About

I’m the Operamane, a retired civil engineer, and lifelong devotee of classical music with a special passion for opera and chamber music, but, like Arthur Fiedler, I believe that, really, there are only two kinds of music: good and bad, and the only bad music is boring music.  My wife and I are compulsive concert-goers, subscribers to Opera Boston, Boston Lyric Opera, Kingston Chamber Music Festival, Worcester Chamber Music Society, Music in Deerfield, Rockport Chamber Music Festival, Opera Worcester, Chorus pro Musica, Music Worcester, and here and there, assorted other musical events..

It seems that every group with with a particular interest in nearly any activity or discipline has an internet forum wherein like-minded people can express opinions, trade ideas, discuss, debate and otherwise discourse upon their pet passion, but I know of no such outlet for classical music fans, at least not in the Worcester area.  My Idea is to start a dialogue among serious music lovers wherever they may be, but especially in the Worcester area, by posting reviews of concert performances, introductory comments on coming concerts, and all other subjects musical by issuing a general invitation to any and all who may wish to add to the conversation on the subject nearest and dearest to my heart, music. Music  in all its limitless richness and diversity; music that lifts our spirits in time of sorrow, soothes the soul in pain, brings joy to our lives in all climates.  All humankind in all societies have music.  Without music the human race would wither away. The future prosperity of serious music requires that interest be stimulated; that effort to attract younger people to musical events be sustained and extended; that the net be cast wider so, let the conversation begin!

“If music be the food of love, play on!”
